For girls ages 7 and 8, the Brownies program is all about encouraging girls to develop their own identity and positive relationships with others. Brownies gain confidence by learning skills that they can use in their daily lives and develop a commitment to their communities through service projects and special events. All players are registered under Edmonton Minor Soccer Association. West Zone representatives try to honor community, coach and friend requests, however, there are absolutely no guarantees of requests for player placement. Registration for indoor soccer begins August 21st, 2020, and ends September 27th. Registration must be PAID to be considered complete. Players paid or registered after September 27th at midnight will be put on a WAITLIST while teams are being formed.
The Indoor season runs from mid-October thru early February.
Coaches will contact players early October, inquires regarding player placement will not be answered by the West Zone office.
The karate program at Parkview Community Hall offer classes for kids, starting at 4 years of age, to adults. The style of karate, known as Uechi-ryu Karate-do, is a smooth and flowing self-defense system that does not require students to have special athletic ability.
The school has classes Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 6:15 to 8:45 pm, September to June. First Class: Sept 22, 2020.
There will be promotions and black belt evaluations this year. One important change to mention is that partner work will be done in cohorts of three. This will permit students to continue partner work if one other student is absent. Detailed precautions have been planned to accomodate Covid-19 safety protocols. Download more information here.

U4/U5 is planned for Tuesday evenings.
- Non-competitive, fun basketball for women 18 to 108.
- Ladies Sports Nite has been running for over 30 years.
- It is drop in.
- Teams are randomly selected from whoever shows up.
- We don’t keep score.
- Bring non-scuff runners.
If YOUR FIRST REACTION is “I haven’t played since high school” or “I was never good at sports”, READ ON. If you like a really competitive game, this is not a group for you.
We try to ensure that everyone scores a basket, and that everyone of every level participates fully in the game. Some people run, some people walk up the court. Play at your own level. You can go full out against people of your own skill level. Lesser skilled people are guarded, but you let them handle the ball and don’t steal it from them. When there are enough people for subs, we sub off evenly even if not tired. We have lots of joy and laughter. Our oldest player was 84. Average age is likely 40’s or 50’s, but we have older and younger people.
I reluctantly went to my first one, and years later, I’m still coming back. It’s a great workout, and it’s fun! You don’t have time? You owe it to yourself and your family to be the happiest you can be. Think of this as a happy pill without adverse side effects, and it’s cheap!
Hope to see you there!
Fees – $60 (in 2019) - covers the cost of renting gyms for a year. Come and try for free and see if you like it.
